New Futures: A Youth Employability Programme

New Futures is a Youth Employability Programme currently being piloted by SchoolNet South Africa in Johannesburg and evaluated by SAIDE. Maryla Biolobrzeska provides an overview of the programme and some of the initial findings.


Association of American Medical Colleges’ (AAMC) President Report on Recent Visit to Africa

Darrell G Kirch, the AAMC President and CEO participated in the African Medical Education Symposium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in April this year. He recently published an article entitled “Regaining My Perspective in Dar es Salaam” in the AAMC Reporter in which he praises the efforts of SAIDE's OER Africa initiative. Jenny Louw provides a synopsis of the article.


COL Quality Assurance Workshop: Maputo, March 2010

SAIDE has been leading a collaborative development of a quality assurance toolkit for use in open schools on behalf of the Commonwealth of Learning. Ephraim Mhlanga reports on a recent workshop to review the drafts of the different components of the toolkit.


SAIDE Assists UCM in Beira

During 2009 SAIDE assisted members of staff at the Universidade Católica de Moçambique (UCM) develop a set of education technology project proposals and budgets that directly addressed the needs of the institution. Each project focused on teaching and learning and looked for ways that technology might assist in enhancing the various courses on offer. Andrew Moore reports on his visit on behalf of SAIDE.

 

Thando's Story
