Saide’s African Storybook recently printed 166 000 storybooks! This was in partnership with KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education Library Services (KZN DoE ELITS), Jika’iMfundo (a school improvement programme operating in all schools in two districts of KZN), and Room to Read, (an NGO that provides local language print books for reading, and trains school librarians). After 16 years of stimulating work at Saide, I am leaving to step into the large boots vacated by Dr Johan Hendrikz, as manager of the Unit for Distance Education at the University of Pretoria. It therefore seems an appropriate time to pause and reflect on the many years spent at Saide. |
